Movie of the Day: Nightmare on Elm Street 2010

About the Film: Directed by Smauel Bayer and stars Katie Cassidy, Rooney Mara, Kellan Lutz, Kyle Gallner and Freddy himself Jackie Haley. This 2010 remake gives a new light to the original script written and directed by the genius Wes Craven. It follows the original characters who are haunted by a dark figure in the dreams. They soon realize this figure known to us as Freddy Kruger was a real person from their past. What is their parents hiding from them and who is Freddy Krueger? Step into this dark dream world and discover the truth.

A Nightmare on Elm Street is on DVD now.

Highlights:

This movie has one HELL of a cast and some sexy eye candy. I loved the fact they extended Katie's character throughout the film and really developed her character. Kellan's character was just placed to gain viewers from the hype of Twilight.

My Thoughts: I am NOT a huge fan of remakes because I feel that Hollywood has run out of ideas and feels the need to revamp every series and steal ideas instead of really delving into their creativity. Maybe its all the debauchery of fame and the high life clouding their judgment. However, I found this remake at least enjoyable and relatable. The director did the best he could with the script and cast and I feel it was a decent interpretation of the original. Maybe, just maybe next time we can get a proper sequel with top notch acting and a meaty plot.

If another remake gets made Freddy will rise from his grave and snatch some wigs and maybe an ear or two.
